it’s the blog of the year!!!

yup every end of the year just like kisses at midnight, over eating turkey (or in my case no turkey) at christmas and making resolutions you know you’ll never keep I throw in my two cents and get the blog of the year up! it’s a fun way to look back at all the fun things I’ve worked on this year, and a way of thanking all the folk who’ve helped make another year totally fantastic! roll on 2012 – 2011 is gonna be a hard one to beat cause it was the year that…

got to see some childhood favourites - Pulp at electirc picnic

enjoyed more stunning sunshine at Oxegen (well worth it tho)

saw some bands I'd never heard before (edward Sharpe and the magnetic Zeros)

and saw 2 local legends launch their second albums - ASIWYFA...

and of course LaFaro

who tore glasgowbury a new one again this year

and the Glasgowbury fans showed their appreciation...

...asdid the security guards

...I got to put the Wonder villains in a swimming pool... hide and seek with Seven Summits (they're in there hinest look closely)

...saw MTV music week transform Belfast

...they can keep lady gaga tho we have Shauna Tohill


saw two ofmy fave bands onstage at the same time!!!

...and got to chill out backstage with them too (The Answer at Belfast Rocks)

...ocal legends Neil Hannon and The Undertones helped fight Alzheimers

...from what I've heard Neil was quite pleased to be involved

...Belfast Music Week also gave me the honour of having my own exhibition in the Ulster Hall

with music from the wonderful Colly Strings

...and the exhibition allowed me to meet and exhibit 12 awesome new photographers from ireland!

...founded a new NI supergroup (Ash, John D'Arcy and the undertones - awww if only this were true!!)

...and I got to present licx (a job i took very VERY seriously at all times)


...went behind the scenes at Argyle business centre


met the LEGEND Henry Rollins (look he was so happy about it too)


...I got to see several beautiful brides head up the aisle here's Donna and Graham...

...and Kathy and Ian to show just a few... fact several of the happy couples I shot last year are now hapy trios - meet Jacob Shaw...

...and not a wedding I got to photograph but the royal one did have spirits high in parts of Belfast

...talking of spirits here's a new one I photographed some launch pics for to work on some great fashion shoots with the 4fashion team

...some a little more dramatic than others but so much fun!! (no models were harmed honest)

...we even got to combine our talents for local designer Jessica Edlin


...and again for the Student Pulse advertising campaign

...and the stunning truly beautiful bridal range

...then on a rather different challenge had to make dishwashers look good for Winterhalter

...and keeping with the foody theme shot the Restauarant Association of Ireland Awards

..but celebrated a different type of talent much closer to my own heart and the fabuloius NIMAs

...then had the chance to get arty with MAK9

...and was honoured to help raise money for local filmmaker Will McConnell by helping to organise GoodWIll

...we played music as well as writing naughty signs!

...and the charity stuff didn't stop there! Stepped back in time for Movember with the guys fro Horatio Todds

...and had the utmost pleausre of working with the SKyway Club to vcreate a Culture Night murder mystery exhibition which there were many suspects...


...but inspector Gamble was on the case! was also time to wish SmallTown America a happy tenth birthday!

...see Two Door Cinema Club play Vital to thousands of hometown fans! some fantastic kids involved with Young Enterprise a spot of casual trespassing with Town Cried Wolf

...and create a bloodbath with Dead Til Friday

...bombcity7 started a stage invasion at Pigstock

...and MojoFury celebrated the launch of their first album! mag Molten launched with a great gig (mental deficiency being as mental as expected)

...and I enjoyed a Katy Perry gig more than I'd like to admit!

... we lit the cake candles again to sing happy 300th birthday to Mchughs!

...and it's not every day you get to meet a real life giant (actor Kristian Nairns)

...Ollies Halloween pr pics forced me to face my fear of clowns!

...and I enjoyed Download shooting for Kerrang both the live...

...and the behind the scenes!

...photographed some brand new NI talent - Amateur Historians

...and saw several well known bands change their line ups! a wee clap from Dave Grohl ๐Ÿ˜‰

...introduced Kerrang readers to Axis of.

...helped Elspeth overcome their fear of cameras!

...saw Coldplay give Chris Martin butterflies

...and got eaten by midges building the set for the Katie and The Carnival Shoot!

and even turned my hand to the radio instead of a camera for a change for a package on the North Coast rock scene for ATL which you can listen to HERE

I had the honour andย  pleasure of teaching photography to some really fantastic people at Oh Yeah, Scoil NaFuiseoige, the WEA and many more!!

and alongside doing all that managed to get a new house!!

...and alongside all that me and Leigh managed to get our first house!

Yeah 2011 has been a hell of a year!!

so massive thanks to everyone who played a part in it, been an absolute pleasure working with and getting to know every single one of you and I must say I’m pretty excited about what 2012 may bring!!






My second AU cover to feature ASIWYFa – dragged the poor fellas up Divis mountain this time – despite it being sunny everywhere else it was still baltic and their truck ran outta petrol (thankfully at thetop so we coul roll back down the hill as far as the springfield road then go get petrol – never a dull moment huh!)

Round about this time last year I did a big shoot with the guys from And So I Watch You From Afar to promote the letters EP and their new album – I had a troop of extras who braved the cold and were truly awesome. Without them we mcouldn’t have managed this at all so big thanks to everyone who took part and here are some of the pics for you to enjoy (believe me it was as cold as it looks!)

ASIWYFA Album Launch

Well I’ve just about recovered from the ASIWYFA album gig launch last night in the Mandela Hall!!ย  An absolutely amazing show – complete with stage diving, crowd surfing and the best atmosphere of any gig I’ve been to this year!

AU issue 55

New issue out today – haven’t seen anything but the cover yet but I am OVER THE MOON ๐Ÿ™‚ the guys were an absolute pleasure to shoot and it was such a fun day – thanks to the ASIWYFA guys for being so enthusiastic, Francis and Jonny for getting me to shoot it and to Chris who helped me out on the day! Despite cars breaking down (twice) we still made it home in one piece with tales to tell!!
